It's Time to Shift towards Artificial Intelligence

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has become important part of our daily lives. It is shifting the nature of how humans act together with their environment, particularly with machines. Recently we saw a case of AI chatbots continuously creating and interacting in their own language with humans. So when we are dealing with such intelligent systems it becomes more important for us to understand what we are generating and treat it with extreme respect and attention.

Researchers, policymakers, business leaders, and academicians must work together under a set of universal supervisory principles to safeguard that development and use of AI-based technology is thoughtful and trusted by everyone. We should create solutions to the adherence of ethical principles in order to encourage the widespread acceptance of this technology. There should be six core ethical principles once we start adopting this technology are fairness, reliability and safety, privacy and security, inclusivity, transparency and accountability.

AI systems should be transparent and treat everyone in a fair and balanced manner and shouldn't discriminate between groups of people. These systems are designed by humans and learn from them, there is a high probability of them transferring their conscious or unconscious biases to the machine. It is therefore we continue to grow analytical techniques to spot and address potential unfairness by systematically assessing the data used to train AI systems. Accuracy is another major concern with building the automated systems. With this technology full accuracy can't be assumed as machines will perform what the instructions are feed into them by humans.

For majority of us AI systems are still very new and trust is the integral part of any collaboration.  As with anything that humans do not fully understand, some of us have a healthy amount of skepticism and even fear of adopting this technology.

We are still not in a situation to predict the future of AI with utmost certainty. We usually tend to adapt to technologies that ease our lives and in our continuous endeavor to discover the new systems. We must work within an ethical framework for AI in order to create a human-centric approach that in the long run will definitely influence society. So at last we should know that we are dealing with the intelligent systems it becomes extremely important for us to understand what we are creating and treat it with utmost respect and caution.
