Google Workshop: How Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning can make India Technologically Advanced

Google, India organized a one day workshop on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) in Bengaluru. It was attended by several distinguished personalities, including Vice President of Engineering at Google Prabhakar Raghavan and Software Engineer Jeff Dean.

This comes two weeks after it launched a website called 'Learn with Google AI' that aims at making educational resources around Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence accessible to all.

Google awards grants to five researchers for work in AI
The event saw the participation of researchers and practitioners from related fields, including representatives of LinkedIn, Amazon, Flipkart, Ola, Myntra and even Microsoft.

Stakeholders discussed projects in different areas like Deep Learning and Natural Language Processing.

Google awarded grants to five Indian researchers to continue their work in Artificial Intelligence. It claimed the amount disbursed this time was higher than it was in 2012.

The new website hosts courses for beginners to experts
Google's news "Learn with Google AI" website hosts educational resources on Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence developed by professionals at the company, which caters to everyone, whether beginners or experts.

It also features a free Machine Learning Crash Course, which constitutes of exercises, interactive visualizations and instructional videos that make concepts easier to understand. Google said it is the first of many such upcoming courses on the website.

Google's increasing focus on India
Google conducted its first ever Developer Students Club Summit in India during February 23 to 25. It was held in Goa and aimed at creating a pool of a highly-skilled workforce in the country. The summit provided Indian students with a head-start on current technologies like Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence and mobile and web development. The inaugural batch consists 200 student ambassadors from 98 cities across 170 colleges.
