AI is developing. What more should we teach?

Did you see the video of the robot opening a door and freak out and think if they can open doors, what will they learn next? People see a robot do something that looks intelligent and tend to assume that there is a general intelligence behind this. In reality, the set of tasks that robots and Artificial Intelligence (AI) more generally are good at, is constrained by narrow parameters.

AI in itself is a wide research area and is still in its beginning stage. It is actually intelligence displayed by machines, in contrast with the natural intelligence (NI) displayed by humans and other animals.

AI is a deep learning process that allows machines to process information for themselves on a very sophisticated level. It allows them to perform complex functions such as facial recognition, etc. Big data is speeding up the AI development process. Soon, we can see integration of AI technology in our everyday lives. While much of this technology is still beginning at the moment, we can expect sophisticated AI significantly impacting our everyday lives soon.

Due to AI, it is not required to give computers more than the basic instructions and data to produce desired results. And this is possible due to Moore's Law and the power of cloud computing.

Even with the current limitations of AI, there are still some serious economic changes coming as a result of self-driving cars and other innovations. However, with the advances such as AI, it is said that many jobs are going to go away soon.

With AI, rule-based decision making, and even more complex pattern-matching tasks, will be done by computers. While some jobs will be wholly automated, other roles will require a higher-level synthesis of the data produced by sophisticated decision-support algorithms.

It is important to keep in mind that so much of what drives behavior and decisions today is not easily captured into a data point to be fed into an algorithm. It is always the case that experience, context and data-driven AI will produce the best outcomes. And it surely will always be the case as such.

Lastly, with advances in AI, we can still find much more improvement in the quality of our lives and work. Like, the advances happened in comparison to decades before, we have still taught quite a lot to AI. So, the years ahead will show more progressive results and advancements in it.
