In tech, if you see the highest paying entry-level job is of data scientist, which has an average salary of $113,254.

If we move on and see the second highest paid job is of Product Managers and Developers, which has average salaries of $106,127 and $100,610 respectively.

The highest paid workers in the entire study are Data Scientists in Seattle, followed closely by Data Scientists in San Francisco, and Product Managers in Seattle.
These and many other insights into the current job market are from Comparables latest study of the Highest Paying EntryLevel Jobs in Tech. The study is based on the average salary of 8,005 entry-level workers in 10 of the most popular jobs in the tech industry.

Data was collected over a 12month period, between March 2018 and March 2019. Founded in 2015, Comparably mission is to make workplaces transparent and rewarding for both employees and employers by providing assessments of company cultures & market compensation from actual employees. Key insights from the study include the following:

Data Scientist is the highest paying entry-level job in tech, paying an average salary of $113,254, 26% higher than the median salary of $89,938 for the top 10 positions combined. The majority of the best-paying jobs over the median salary reward entry-level applicants who have advanced data analytics, machine learning algorithm development, software development, coding skills with higher than average salaries.
 
Entry-level workers in the San Francisco Bay Area are paid the most of any metro area for seven different job titles  Developer, Mobile Developer, Sales Engineer, DevOps Engineer, UI/UX Designer, Marketing Manager, and QA Analyst. Second to San Francisco are entry-level workers in Seattle, where Data Scientists, Product Managers, and Sales Reps make the most. The highest-paid workers in the entire study are Data Scientists in Seattle, followed closely by Data Scientists in San Francisco, and Product Managers in Seattle.

Entry-level tech workers generally make more in New York and Los Angeles than they do in Boston and Chicago, which are lagging slightly behind the more established tech hub cities in pay. In Boston, the average tech Sales Engineer makes about $30,000 less per year than what the same position pays in the San Francisco Bay Area. The following graphic compares compensation by location.
