"If you think that the internet has changed your life, think again. The Internet of Things is about to change it all over again!"- Brendan O' Brien. Indeed IoT has changed our perspective of looking up at things around us. Imagining the appliances at our home connecting and communicating with each other, sharing data and providing us a service that we never expected them to offer is amazing. I mean we never did imagine that we would get to know if about our coffee from our bedroom when our coffee machine is placed on the kitchen.  Who had thought that we can even set our AC to cool our room while on our way to home so that the room is already cool till we reach home? This is all possible through one technology- the Internet of Things (IoT).

"What the Internet of Things is really about is information technology that can gather its own information. Often what it does with that information is not tell a human being something, it [just] does something."- Kevin Ashton. With the Internet of Things (IoT) devices are connected on the internet and share useful information and data with each other. Thus, making it whole a system which is connected in a way that every individual system possesses the information of the other and accordingly execute tasks.

"Internet of Things is transforming the everyday physical objects that surround us into an ecosystem of information that will enrich our lives. From refrigerators to parking spaces to houses, the Internet of Things is bringing more and more things into the digital fold every day, which will likely make the Internet of Things a multi-trillion dollar industry in the near future."- PricewaterhouseCoopers report.

IoT has acquired the market with each of the businesses and companies using the technology and getting benefitted from it. "And just like any company that blissfully ignored the Internet at the turn of the century, the ones that dismiss the Internet of Things risk getting left behind."- Jared Newman. IoT has its wide applications today. Whether it is the Wearable technology- from your smart-watches to your fitness trackers, smart cars- the self-driving as well and Smart homes- that we discussed at the beginning of the article, everything has been possible with IoT. It is indeed a huge technological name at present.

There are various security issues that surround IoT despite its many applications, the most prominent being the Data related issues.  When systems are all connected they are prone to cyber attacks and an easy target of Hackers which must be addressed promptly. The recent Ransomware attack is such an example. It is required we develop security systems and more cyber security to handle such issue wisely.
